To coach independently means being responsible for delivering coaching to players / teams / squads. As an independent coach you may be responsible for planning, delivering and reviewing sessions. To coach independently, clubs and national governing bodies of sport require coaches to have a minimum standard of training. This is often a level 2 qualification.

For example, if you are responsible for coaching a team on a training night and you are the only designated coach, it is recommended that you should have a level 2 qualification.
